You Know Your Business Needs AI—But Where Do You Start?
Hosted by Bob Frazier · Published
Stop chasing AI tools and begin with a business problem, process, or job. This episode presents a practical starting point for business owners who understand AI is becoming important but need a clear path from curiosity to implementation.
Episode 3 Recap: Start With the Job, Not the AI Tool
Many business owners know AI will become important to their company, but they are overwhelmed by the number of tools, promises, and technical terms.
The best starting point is not selecting software. It is identifying a business job that is repetitive, time-sensitive, difficult to cover consistently, and connected to a measurable result.
Look for work that is not being completed when employees are busy or unavailable. That might include answering calls after hours, responding to website visitors, scheduling appointments, requesting reviews, confirming appointments, updating customer records, or following up with old leads.
Once a job has been selected, define what success looks like. The AI may need to reduce unanswered calls, improve response time, increase appointments, generate more reviews, or recover opportunities already entering the business.
Beginning with one clearly defined job makes implementation easier to test and measure. It also keeps the company from buying several disconnected AI tools that employees do not consistently use.
AI should solve an important business problem. It should not become another project sitting on the owner’s to-do list.
Five Key Takeaways
- Do not begin by shopping for AI tools.
- Identify an important job or business problem first.
